# Failed Orders

> Orders that a marketplace sent you but AIM could not finish recording — usually because it could not tell which pair in your inventory was sold.

Orders that a marketplace sent you but AIM could not finish recording — usually because it could not tell which pair in your inventory was sold.

**Where to find it:** [Open Failed Orders in AIM](https://aimventory.com/failed-orders) — you will be asked to sign in first.

## What you can do here

* See which incoming StockX, GOAT/Alias, and eBay orders did not get recorded
* Read the exact reason each one failed
* Fix the underlying problem and try the order again
* Close out an order you already handled another way, with a note explaining how
* Look back at everything that has already been dealt with

## Buttons, fields, and controls

| Error type | Filter bar | Limits the list to one kind of failure: Size Mismatch, Catalog Mismatch, Inventory Not Found, Product Mismatch, or Unexpected Error. | Use it to batch similar fixes — every Size Mismatch usually has the same root cause. |
| Status | Filter bar | Switches between Unresolved Only (the default), Resolved Only, and All. | Stay on Unresolved for daily work; switch to Resolved to check what a colleague already handled. |
| Error type column | Failed orders table | Names the failure. "Size Mismatch" means the size the marketplace sold does not line up with a size you hold; "Inventory Not Found" means AIM has no matching pair on hand; "Product Mismatch" and "Catalog Mismatch" mean the shoe itself could not be matched; "Unexpected Error" is anything else. | Read this before retrying — it tells you what to fix. |
| Error message column | Failed orders table | The plain detail behind the error type. A "Sale created" note underneath means the sale was recorded even though something else went wrong. | Check for "Sale created" before entering a sale by hand, so you do not record it twice. |
| Retries column | Failed orders table | Counts how many times this order has been tried again. | A climbing number means retrying alone is not working — fix the cause first. |
| Status column | Failed orders table | Shows Unresolved (still needs you) or Resolved (already dealt with). | Use it to see at a glance what is left on a filtered list. |
| Retry | Actions column on an unresolved row | Runs the original order through AIM again, exactly as the marketplace sent it. | Use it after you have corrected the inventory, size, or product that caused the failure. |
| View details | Row menu (the "..." button), and the eye icon on resolved rows | Opens the full record: the order number, the full error message, the technical error detail, the complete order as the marketplace sent it, and any resolution notes. | Use it when the one-line message is not enough, or before contacting support. |
| Mark resolved | Row menu (the "..." button) | Opens a window where you write how the problem was handled, then closes the failure out. | Use it when you fixed the order outside AIM — entered the sale by hand, or the marketplace cancelled it — and retrying would be wrong. |
| Resolution notes | Mark as Resolved window | A required note saved with the failure so anyone reviewing later knows what happened. | Always write what you actually did, not just "fixed" — "entered sale by hand, pair was in the back room" saves the next person an hour. |

## How to: Work through the day’s failures

1. Leave Status on Unresolved Only.
2. Read the Error type on each row to see what kind of problem it is.
3. Open View details on anything unclear, so you can see the order exactly as the marketplace sent it.
4. Fix the cause, then click Retry — or Mark resolved if you handled it another way.

<Tip title="Real-world example">
  Three GOAT orders failed overnight, all Inventory Not Found. All three are the same Dunk Low Panda that never got received from a delivery — receive it, then Retry all three.
</Tip>

## How to: Fix an order that says the size is wrong

1. Filter Error type to Size Mismatch.
2. Open View details and note the size the marketplace sold.
3. Check that size in your inventory — the pair may be sitting under a different size label, or may never have been received.
4. Once the right size is in stock, come back and click Retry.

<Tip title="Real-world example">
  StockX sold a Jordan 1 Chicago in size 10.5 but your stock has it recorded as size 10. Correct the size on the pair, then retry — the order records and the pair comes out of stock.
</Tip>

## How to: Close out an order you already handled by hand

1. Find the order and open the row menu (the "..." button).
2. Choose Mark resolved.
3. Write exactly what you did in the resolution notes.
4. Click Mark Resolved — the row moves out of the unresolved list but stays on record.

<Tip title="Real-world example">
  An eBay order failed because the buyer cancelled before it could record. Mark it resolved with "buyer cancelled on eBay, nothing shipped, no sale recorded".
</Tip>

## Good to know

* A failed order is an AIM record-keeping problem, not a money problem. The marketplace still has the order and still owes you the payout — this page just gets your own books in step.
* Retry replays the order exactly as it first arrived. If you have not changed anything, it will fail the same way, and the Retries count will climb.
* If the error message says "Sale created", the sale is already in AIM. Do not enter it a second time — check your sales list first.
* Resolved failures are never deleted. Switch Status to Resolved Only to see how a similar problem was handled last time.
* A burst of failures from one marketplace at one time usually points at a connection or catalog problem rather than the individual orders.
